IMPACT REPORT FROM CAMEROON BACK TO SCHOOL CAMPAIGN
Cameroon has been experiencing political crises since 2016 which led to the shutting down of schools, destruction, and burning of school buildings. This made learning difficult for school children in Cameroon. 2019 FALA winner, Heline Babiene, in collaboration with the Future Africa Leaders Foundation contributed positively to the Doula community of Cameroon by organizing Back to School Campaign outreach for school children. She took it upon herself to provide school materials such as textbooks, pencils, school bags, and books for school children in this community. Through the Back to School Campaign, Babiene and her team reached out to over 1000 school children. The school children were so excited after receiving school kits and went home rejoicing!
Also, the 2019 FALA winner has proven to be a distinguished leader by renovating a dilapidated school building in the Southwest Kumba community of Cameroon. Babiene and her team members identified one of the abandoned and damaged schools; they thereby, bought the necessary materials needed for renovating the school. They renovated and presented a befitting learning environment for the school children to learn. A big congratulations to Babiene and her team for their selfless service and commitment to changing lives in Douala Community, Cameroon!
